GUINEA - In the town of Koundara, Salimatou Camara was burned on both feet by her biological mother named Aissatou Barry. Her crime? Having lost the keys to the house. The alleged perpetrator of this act is free whilst the abused girl, the victim, risks losing the use of her lower limbs permanently if nothing is done.
LA FRATERNITÉ UK trained a total of 27 community members on Safeguarding Children. A Certificate Delivery Ceremony was held on 19 November 2022 to hand the certificates to the new Champions. The project was gratefully funded by the Community Fund.
As part of our Safeguarding Children campaign, La Fraternité provided a tailored training on how keep children safe to about 30 community champions from different countries, based in various cities in England & Wales.
The charity La Fraternité Guinéenne is training Community Champions in safeguarding children.
Among some conservative Muslim communities there, women are regarded as "unclean" and "not ready for marriage" unless FGM - the deliberate cutting or removal of a female's external genitalia - is performed.
