Alarming data

After Somalia (98%), the Republic of Guinea is the second country in the world where the prevalence of FGM is the highest: 97% (UNICEF, 2016).

Although the practice has been banned in Guinea since 1965, 97% of girls and women aged 15 to 49 years have undergone FGM. Let's end FGM!

FGM priorities

Holding regular awareness forums and seminars.
2. Involving men/women
Involving community leaders, religious leaders and professionals.
3. Listening, Learning and Helping style
Listening to survivors; learning from their experiences; supporting them.

What is FGM/C?

Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) comprises all procedures involving partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons (WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, 1997).
